Research Development Specialist, Office of Research and Creative Scholarship

The Office of Research Administration invites applications for a ResearchDevelopment Specialist.
This position reports to the Research Development Manager and must be a self-starter, working autonomously on activities to develop and increase proposal production and submission to grow the research enterprise.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Support faculty, staff, and administrative leaders in the preparation of external grant proposals, particularly larger interdisciplinary proposals.
Acquire and interpret up-to-date knowledge of funding and federal programs and submission deadlines for applications.
Manage a variety of tasks and projects and handle sensitive information under strict timelines.
Build relationships with faculty and staff to learn individual areas of strength and interest.
Identify new funding opportunities through prospect research.
Match opportunities to individuals and, working with others in OSP to facilitate proposal submission.
Develop a comprehensive proposal checklist and suggest timelines for completion of proposals.
Provide detailed critiques and editing of draft documents for a range of disciplines.
Includes editing/refining draft proposals, securing and/or editing supplementary documents, making recommendations on program design, and advising on proposal format/editorial style.
Other duties as assigned and required to advance the research enterprise, such as the delivery of campus-wide grantsmanship training and coordination of materials and information to support grant writing by faculty/staff.
Position DetailsPosition is full-time, 1.
0 FTE, Letter of Appointment (LOA) Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
Salary for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.
Required Education and SkillsBachelor's degree in public administration, business, a research discipline, or related field, in addition to three (3) years of experience in research development or sponsored activities in a university setting or academic environment; or any combination of education and experience that would provide the competencies required to successfully discharge the duties of this position.
Ability to successfully manage the involvement of academic faculty and staff in the development of multi-disciplinary efforts.
Facilitation skills to encourage, develop, shepherd, and manage multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional proposals.
Knowledge of the numerous sources and clearinghouses that provide funding opportunities.
The ability to work creatively with a diverse clientele.
