meteorology, atmospheric science, or other natural science major that included:
1. At least 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of credit in meteorology/atmospheric science including a minimum of:
Six semester hours of atmospheric dynamics and thermodynamics; Six semester hours of analysis and prediction of weather systems (synoptic/mesoscale); Three semester hours of physical meteorology; and Two semester hours of remote sensing of the atmosphere and/or instrumentation. 2. Six semester hours of physics, with at least one course that includes laboratory sessions. 3. Three semester hours of ordinary differential equations. 4. At least nine semester hours of course work appropriate for a physical science major in any combination of three or more of the following:
physical hydrology, statistics, chemistry, physical oceanography, physical climatology, radiative transfer, aeronomy, advanced thermodynamics, advanced electricity and magnetism, light and optics, and computer science. There is a prerequisite or corequisite of calculus for course work in atmospheric dynamics and thermodynamics, physics, and differential equations. Calculus courses must be appropriate for a physical science major. --OR-- B. Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to the basic education requirements listed above, the following specialized experience or graduate level education is required to qualify. Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS 12:
You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. To qualify, the specialized experience documented in your resume must reflect all of the following:
- Conducting the full cycle of scientific research (including identifying research topics, defining study objectives, organizing and conducting the research, interpreting the results, and presenting the findings in the form of reports, demonstrations, manuscripts, and other appropriate technology transfer activities) in one or more of the following areas:
Surface wind flow modeling; wildland fire energy transport; wildland fire management decision support tool development; characterization of energy transfer in wildland fire and its application to fire ignition, intensity, spread, effects, and management; environmental, physical, chemical, and biological processes that drive mass and energy transport in wildland fire. - Developing and maintaining surface wind models (such as WindNinja) and related tools designed to support wildland fire management. - Disseminating research findings at conferences or scientific meetings and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals. OR GS-12:
conferred Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in a research area related to the work of this position. Qualifying graduate education for the GS-12 level of this position could be acquired through a graduate program from colleges such as:
biological and agricultural engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or meteorology. The primary qualifying educational capabilities will be demonstrated by coursework and research related to mass and energy transport in natural systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
