Applicants must meet the basic requirements below. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in genetics; or one of the basic biological sciences that included at least 9 semester hours in genetics. Courses dealing with genetics, some phase of genetics, or specific techniques that are applied in genetics work are acceptable. This includes courses in genetics, plant or animal genetics, molecular and cellular biology, mathematics and statistics (as they apply to genetics), population dynamics, and certain techniques such as those dealing with irradiation. Course work consisting of an appropriate combination of basic courses in genetics and cytology or statistics are also acceptable.) Graduate Education:
Genetics, or a curriculum or pattern of training that placed major emphasis on genetics. Graduate study in related fields such as agronomy, horticulture, animal, dairy, or poultry husbandry, entomology, microbiology, plant pathology, chemistry, molecular and cellular biology, and physiology that involved cross-training in genetics is qualifying, provided it placed sufficient emphasis on genetics. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. GS-12:
One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11). Specialized experience at this level is defined as:
Conducting the full cycle of scientific research pertaining to genetic resource management, which encompasses genetic conservation and the evaluation of natural fish and wildlife populations using eDNA, bioinformatics, and genomic tools. This includes experience in completing all stages of the scientific process from idea generation and study design to implementation to analysis and dissemination of results; Evaluating the genetic impacts of various resource management plans and projects and working with other scientists and program leaders to provide professional expertise and formulate and recommend policies, programs, and plans for ecosystem management and ecological restoration activities; Assisting in meeting organization, preparation of reports, determination of research priorities, evaluation of research proposals, and participation in workshops and related events for a national science organization related to genetics or genomics (e.g. National Genomics Center for Wildlife and Fish Conservation); Disseminating research findings at conferences or scientific meetings and publishing results on websites. --OR-- Conferred Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in a research area such as Genetics, or a curriculum or pattern of training that placed major emphasis on genetics. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
