The HUD/VASH Social Worker position will be stationed in the Missoula Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). The incumbent will provide up to 70% of their work for Veterans directly in the community.
The incumbent in this position performs social work functions specifically directed toward homeless veterans and their families or veterans at-risk for homelessness. S/he serves as a primary contact with the Public Housing Agencies (PHAs), providing case management-based services (directly or through referral) necessary to ensure that veteran care is coordinated with the VA, mental health providers and agencies that serve the homeless populations. S/he interviews veterans and their family members to establish facts about the veteran's situation, presenting problems and their causes, and the impact of such problems on the veteran's functioning and health as part of a comprehensive psychosocial assessment. S/he interprets and explains VA's treatment and benefit program; reviews all of the veteran's data, subjective and objective, and makes a clinical assessment. This position will require some travel within Montana.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The position is sedentary in nature. There is requirement for walking, standing, bending, stooping while filing, and carrying objects such as files, invoices and other documents. Employee will sit comfortably to do the work. There is some physical strain/demand by having prolonged use of the computer or viewing the computer screen.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
a. Citizenship . Be a citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g this part.)
b. Education . Have a master''s degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master''s degree in social work.
c. Licensure . Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master''s degree level. (1) Exception. VHA may waive the licensure or certification requirement for persons who are otherwise qualified, pending completion of state prerequisites for licensure/certification examinations. This exception only applies up to the full performance level. For grade levels above the full performance level, the candidate must be licensed or certified.
d. English Language Proficiency . In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
